Moving: def Changing or capable of changing position: “Move away from the TV. You’re not made of glass ya know!”
Relating to or involved in a transfer of furnishings from one location to another: “I think we should move the bed into the kitchen.”
Causing or producing motion: “Wow! That guy went flying when the bull hit him!”
Arousing or capable of arousing deep emotion: “Why does Extreme Home Makeover always make me cry?”
All of the above definitions are currently living in my life. If you haven’t heard, Harold, Evan & I are moving to California. If you are a friend of ours & didn’t know this, I’m sorry for not being able to tell you personally. Our exact move date is narrowed down to sometime between summer & fall of 2012. I think summer, Harold thinks fall, and Evan thinks NOW!
We are moving to Fresno (as far as we know) to be a part of Bread of Life Church which is pastored by Gilbert & Ann Delgado (Tom Bedford’s parents). We have spent a lot of time with the Delgado’s who instantly felt like family to us. We’ve also been to Fresno three (I think) times and spent some quality time with the people of that church. We are looking forward to helping them anyway we can.
I’m a California native so it will be great to actually be in the same state as my parents and nearly all of my other relatives. (Ramona, come home!) We will be about 5 hours from my parents, which we are hugely excited about, as are they. Also oour current pastor, Tom Bedford, and his family, will be moving there in the next few months. Tom grew up in Fresno and Andrea in Bakersfield (1 1/2 hrs away) so it’s a homecoming for them as well.
I am starting this new blog at the request of family & friends to document this process of moving away from everything I’ve known for the last 20 years back to a big city. As a family we will be starting over yet again. We’ll have to get a new residence, new jobs, and new services for Evan. (His will be the easiest thing to get, I think.) Last night I was trying to count up all the times Harold & I have uprooted and moved. It’s been 5 times, 4 of those cross-country moves, in 28 years. I’ve never lived anywhere more than 4 years until my current town.
I hope you stick around to read about my newest adventure and hopefully something I write will be of help to you. If you have any questions about the move just let me know and I will try to answer them. My other blog, The Road Not Chosen, will still stay up although I will no longer post there. Oh yes, I will still write about God, politics and other miscellaneous things from time to time. I just can’t help myself!
Thanks for reading.
Congrats on the new adventure, Lorie and Fam! I’m excited to hear the details as they unfold. I know from experience that leaving your home of twenty years can be rather unsettling, even when you are excited about what is ahead. Godspeed.
Thanks, Kath! I was thinking about when you gave up your amazing homestead to move to Heartland.
